The Cranial Helmet Process: A Step-by-Step Guide for Parents
From the first assessment to helmet production, from the first fitting to monthly follow-ups — what to expect during your baby's cranial orthosis journey.

Initial Assessment
At your clinic visit, a specialist orthotist examines your baby's head shape. You'll get a clear answer on whether a helmet is needed or not. Duration: 20–30 minutes.
3D Scan and Measurement
Your baby's head is scanned with a 3D optical scanner (NO radiation). CVAI and CI values are calculated and a treatment plan is drawn up.
Custom Helmet Design
Based on the scan data, a helmet tailored to your baby's head is designed within 1–2 weeks and made from CE-certified materials.
First Fitting
The helmet is tried on and adjusted if needed. There is an adjustment period of the first 3–5 days — after that, your baby wears the helmet 23 hours a day, including during sleep.
Monthly Check-ups and Measurements
Check-ups take place once a month, and your baby's head is measured again at every visit. As your baby grows, the helmet needs small adjustments.
End of Treatment
Once the target head shape is reached, usually after 3–6 months on average, helmet use is discontinued. The outcome is documented with a final 3D scan.
