Hydrocephalus
Hydrocephalus is a neurological condition characterized by the enlargement of the brain's cavities (ventricles) due to an abnormal build-up of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within them. In babies, a rapid increase in head circumference, a tense or bulging fontanelle and developmental changes may be seen.
Evaluation and Follow-Up
Diagnosis is made through clinical examination and imaging (ultrasound, MRI, CT). The treatment approach (medical follow-up, shunt surgery, endoscopic approaches) is planned individually for each patient by the pediatric neurosurgery team.
